Send a message to a user.


Syntax

MSG /?

MSG [user_name | session_name | session_id | @file_name | *] [/SERVER;server_name] [/TIME:seconds] [/V] [/W] [message]


Parameters
* (NTXP)
Send message to all sessions on specified server.
file_name (NTXP)
Identifies a file containing a list of usernames, sessionnames, and sessionids to send the message to.
message (NTXP)
Message to send. If none specified, prompts for it or reads from stdin.
session_id (NTXP)
The ID of the session.
session_name (NTXP)
The name of the session.
user_name (NTXP)
Identifies the specified user_name.

Switches
/? (NTXP)
Displays help.
/SERVER:server_name (NTXP)
server to contact (default is current).
/TIME:seconds (NTXP)
Time delay to wait for receiver to acknowledge message.
/V (NTXP)
Display information about actions being performed.
/W (NTXP)
Wait for response from user, useful with /V.
